Please take notice that the Executive Committee will meet on:
Date: Tuesday, June 17, 2025
Place: New Utrecht Public Library
1743 86th Street
Time: 6:30 PM
Agenda:
Presentation by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) who are collaborating on the redevelopment of New Utrecht Library with a new state-of-the-art library and 100% affordable housing above. The development site will include the municipal parking lot adjacent to the library that is owned and operated by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
The existing library was built in 1957 and has served the surrounding community for almost 70 years. The redevelopment will be initiated through a competitive process called a Request for Proposals (RFP) that asks developers to respond to a set of goals and guidelines that reflect community priorities. Community priorities for the new library and affordable housing will be established through an extensive community engagement process, which will build on several years of BPL’s ongoing engagement of New Utrecht Library patrons.
